Bulletin to ThinkTech Hosts - Week of January 16, 2022

Dear ThinkTech Hosts:

Host Bulletin, Week of January 16, 2022

Host Bios

Reminder: please submit your bio (max 100 words) and headshot by Wednesday  to hayley@thinktechhawaii.com. We'll post them on our Hosts page on thinktechhawaii.com and make videos to promote you and your show(s) throughout the day.

Quiet Spaces

Select a quiet, indoor space to record the show. Ask others around you to keep quiet and set all devices to Do Not Disturb. You may need to move to a more isolated space if others are too noisy. For more Appearance Guidelines: https://thinktechhawaii.com/remote-shows/

Webinar

Our first ThinkTech Hawaii webinar was a success with over 200 registrants! You can watch Evolving Crisis: The Escalating Threat of COVID and Climate Change on our livestream on Friday, January 21 at 10 am or on demand at https://youtu.be/8SKixr3oUdM. Thank you for supporting us throughout this important project.

Survey Responses

These included some helpful ideas, such as suggestions for new shows in the arts, science, communications, economics and books.  If you have ideas for hosts that could organize these shows, please let us know. There were also some suggestions re production values, such as better sound (which we are always working on), adherence to start and end times, and minimizing opening introductions. There were suggestions about reducing restrictions on infringements, but that’s a matter of law and liability, and we can’t do that. Finally, there were some suggestions re the website, and we have been working on that anyway, but we don’t have the resources to make wholesale changes.

Questions, please contact hayley@thinktechhawaii.com.

Bulletin to ThinkTech Hosts - Show and Host Information, Webinar and New Graphics

Dear ThinkTech Hosts:

For this week's Host Bulletin, we'd like to inform you of some important developments we're working on to improve for the new year.

Show Information

Reminder that show information is due the day before the show. We need that information by 10pm the night before the show. If you submit information after that time, we may not be able to produce your show. In that event, you may have to reschedule the guest for a later episode. In any event, when you don’t submit on time it's very hard on the staff.  Please help us maintain the broadcast schedule, and make sure you submit by this deadline. It’s important to send your show information on time so we can send your guests the information they need.

Host Bios

We're creating a page about our various ThinkTech Hosts on our website thinktechhawaii.com. Please send us a 100-word bio and a headshot you like so we can include you on that page. You can add your own website or contact email if you'd like. Please submit these materials within the next 10 days. If you don't get back to us, you will not be included on our Hosts webpage. This idea was suggested to us through our End-of-Year survey, and we'll be sending you a report in next week's Host Bulletin.

Webinar

As you may have seen in our ThinkTech Daily, we're hosting a webinar titled "Evolving Crisis: The Escalating Threat of COVID and Climate Change." It builds upon our recent documentary film, Spiraling Crisis: The Alarming Convergence of Climate Change and Pandemics. Please register at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_DXCsTFCLSLSCudwAnRnsFQ if you haven't already done so.

Title Pages

Our staff is currently working on making title pages that will play at the opening of your shows. We're doing this to improve our production values and better identify your shows.

Thanks so much for your cooperation on these things. If you have questions, please contact hayley@thinktechhawaii.com.

2022 Broadcast Schedule

Regular schedule:

Monday, Feb. 21 - Presidents' Day

Monday, Oct. 10 - Columbus Day

Closed (building holiday):

Monday, May 30 - Memorial Day

Monday, Sept. 5 - Labor Day

Thursday, Nov. 24 - Thanksgiving

We'll announce the dates of our winter break later in the year.

Guides

Please review our various guides on the ThinkTech Hawaii website and ThinkTech Hosts website. We made revisions to several of them to prepare for the new year. The most useful guides are:

Appearance Guidelines https://thinktechhawaii.com/remote-shows/

Graphics Guidelines https://thinktechhawaii.com/graphics-guidelines/

Script Suggestions https://thinktechhawaii.com/hosts-guests-2/script-suggestions/

Host Guide https://thinktechhawaii.com/hosts-guests-2/host-guide/

Prerecordings

If you want to pre-record an episode, make sure to secure approval from Jay first because it doubles our expenses for the episode. We recommend that you try using backup hosts and/or guests or reschedule the episode first. Our instructions for pre-recordings can be found here: https://thinktechhosts.blogspot.com/p/pre-recording-episodes.html.

Thanks so much for your cooperation on these things. If you have questions, please contact hayley@thinktechhawaii.com.
